Veneers

What are Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells that cover the front of your teeth. These veneers are usually made of porcelain or composite resin, and they are bonded onto your teeth to improve the appearance. Veneers are a great way to address many dental problems, including:

  • Discolored teeth
  • Worn-down teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Uneven or misaligned teeth
  • Gaps between the teeth

Benefits of Veneers

  • Natural Appearance: Porcelain Veneers mimic the light-reflecting qualities of natural teeth. They are indistinguishable with your natural smile. They give you a radiant, flawless smile that feels and looks completely natural.
  • Durability: The veneers are a durable cosmetic solution. Porcelain veneers, with proper care, can last from 10 to 15 or even more years. These veneers are highly resistant to staining, chipping and fading. They make an excellent option for maintaining a beautiful smile throughout the years.
  • Minor Tooth Alteration: In comparison to other cosmetic procedures veneers only require minimal tooth preparation. The front of your teeth only need a tiny amount of enamel removed, which preserves the natural structure and provides a noticeable improvement in appearance.

Veneers Process at Crown Dentistry

  • Initial Consultation

A consultation with Dr. Chan is the first step in your journey to a beautiful smile. We will evaluate your dental health and discuss your cosmetic goals during this appointment to determine whether veneers are right for you. We will create a treatment plan for you based on X-rays, impressions, and your specific needs.

  • Tooth Preparation

After we have confirmed that veneers will work for you, it is time to prepare your teeth. Dr. Chan removes a thin layer from the front of your teeth in order to prepare them for veneers. This will ensure a perfect fitting and natural appearance. We take impressions from your prepared teeth in order to create custom-made veneers that are the same size, shape and color as your natural teeth.

  • Temporary Veneers

During the time that your permanent veneers will be fabricated, we will use temporary veneers. This will protect your teeth while giving you an idea of what your new smile looks like. These temporary veneers may not be as durable as your final veneers, but they will still allow you to function normally up until your next appointment.

  • Installation of Permanent Veneers

You will need to return to our office once your custom-made veneers have been completed. Dr. Chan carefully bonds the veneers onto your teeth with a special adhesive. We will make all necessary adjustments to achieve a perfect fit. The veneers are then polished to create a natural, stunning smile.

Caring for Your Veneers

  • Maintaining Your Veneers

It is important to maintain your veneers in order to keep them looking their best and ensure that they last a long time. Here are some tips on how to care for your veneers.

    • Good oral hygiene: Regularly brush and floss your teeth to prevent plaque and gum disease.
    • Avoid Biting Hard Foods: Do not bite into hard food or use your teeth to open packaging, as it can damage your veneers.
    • Regular dental checkups: Visit Crown Dentistry regularly for cleanings and checks to maintain your natural teeth and veneers in great condition.
    • Wear A Mouthguard: You should wear a mouthguard if you grind your teeth during the night. This will protect your veneers.
  • Veneers and Other Cosmetic Options

Veneers are a great option for many patients. However, it is important to compare them to other cosmetic options.

    • Veneers and Teeth Whitening : The most popular cosmetic treatment for teeth whitening can remove stains. Veneers are a more permanent solution for whitening teeth. However, it may not work on all types of stains. Veneers are a permanent way to achieve a brighter, whiter smile. This is especially true for teeth that do not respond well to whitening.
    • Veneers vs. Bonding: A tooth-colored resin can be applied to teeth to correct minor imperfections. Bonding is less invasive, more cost-effective and not as durable as veneers. It may also require more frequent touch ups. Veneers are a durable, aesthetic option for cosmetic improvement.
    • Veneers and Orthodontics: Orthodontic treatment, such as Invisalign or braces, is used to correct misaligned tooth alignments and bite problems. These treatments can be effective in improving the function of teeth, but they take a long time to complete. Veneers are a great way to fix minor alignment problems without needing lengthy orthodontic treatment.
